部立桃園醫院骨科部與國防醫學院的研究團隊合作進行了一項突破性的基礎研究，發現葡萄糖胺和水飛薊素能改變軟骨細胞的代謝平衡，促進關節健康，部桃骨科部部主任許祐堡表示，葡萄糖胺是廣泛應用於關節保健品中的常見成分，研究中發現與水飛薊素結合可以促進軟骨細胞健康，為關節退化治療帶來莫大幫助。

桃醫說明，此項研究由部桃骨科部部主任許祐堡、主治醫師陳奕舟、主治醫師黃宗熙，以及國防醫學院的吳佳駿和黃世明兩位教授聯合完成，成果於2024年4月在國際知名學術期刊《國際分子科學雜誌》上發表。

桃醫表示，此項研究名為「葡萄糖胺和水飛薊素對人類軟骨細胞的糖基化和細胞代謝的影響」。葡萄糖胺是廣泛應用於關節保健品中的常見成分，而水飛薊素則主要以其強大的抗氧化能力為人所知，常用於保肝藥品中。研究結果顯示，這兩種成分可以通過改變軟骨細胞的糖基化模式和調節細胞代謝活性，從而促進軟骨細胞的健康，這為關節退化治療帶來了新的希望。
