隨著壽命延長，失智人口也增加，營養醫學醫師劉博仁表示，人類可以透過學習新的事物，做做運動等等來活化大腦，大腦不常使用，只做慣性的活動，是容易退化的，他推薦大家無聊的時候，可以做做手指操，越練大腦連結也就越多，細微神經連結就會加強。

劉博仁在臉書粉專PO文表示，活化大腦非常重要，例如學新的樂器、動手作畫、踩踏戶外，走到沒有走過的地區，觀賞那裡未曾看過的風光，都是活動大腦很好的機會，而手指操是他很推薦的活化大腦的方式。以下為手指操進行6個步驟。
