韓國女歌手鄭美愛罹舌癌3期切除舌頭淋巴慘失聲，近日自曝自己罹癌竟是「蛀牙害的！」衛生福利部台中醫院牙科主任林佳詠指出，人類口腔內有很多鱗狀上皮細胞，容易因為溫度、化學物質、或不適合的假牙長期的摩擦或刺激造成口腔癌，而根據位置就會有牙齦癌、舌癌、齒齦炎，甚至喉癌、食道癌狀況發生。

林佳詠分析，韓國藝人因為蛀牙變成舌癌，主要原因應是因為蛀牙後長時間未處理，牙齒表面變得很尖銳，加上牙齒上面會有細菌孳生，尖銳牙齒反覆摩擦後對上皮細胞產生反覆刺激，而出現癌化症狀。

「長期蛀牙或不合適的假牙會不斷摩擦到口腔黏膜、舌頭、臉頰或嘴唇，產生黏膜反覆破皮出現癌化現象。」林佳詠提醒， 如果發現口腔經常因不合試假牙或蛀牙被磨破皮，或有超過2周口腔黏膜傷口未癒合，或是有緊張就緊咬嘴唇或舌頭習慣、抽煙、吃檳榔或長期陽光曝曬工作者，都是癌症病變高危險群，都要特別小心，有上述狀況就應盡速就醫治療，讓醫師及時介入治療甚至進一步切片檢查，避免延誤治療。
