大腸直腸外科醫師糠榮誠在《健康問良醫》節目上表示，胃癌、腸癌都是吃出來的，尤其像是燒烤類食物要特別注意。他說，曾遇過一名年輕女性患者，才28歲就罹患大腸癌，致病原因就與飲食有密切相關。由於她在補習班工作，下班時間都很晚，常會光顧一家很好吃的鹹酥雞店，每天都會買一包來吃，以此來犒賞自己一番。

糠榮誠接著說，依女子年紀那麼輕，頂多這樣吃也不過1、2年而已，就養出大腸癌，所以很多東西偶爾吃沒關係，但長期食用就會造成刺激。

糠榮誠進一步說明，大腸癌主要有3大危險因子，分別是致癌基因、黏膜受損，以及吃進致癌物。他指出，從息肉演變成大腸癌約5～10年的時間，倘若有致癌基因又吃進致癌物，恐加速罹癌過程，導致可能才10、20多歲就患病。

北投健康管理醫院副院長梁程超先前表示，大部分的大腸息肉與大腸癌發展初期相同，就是沒有明顯症狀，往往容易被忽略。他呼籲，若為50歲以上、肥胖、抽菸、飲酒、飲食較精緻、愛吃高油脂食物或加工肉品、有大腸癌家族病史者或曾有潰瘍性大腸炎及克隆氏症，皆屬於高危險族群，應提早安排大腸鏡檢查。
