6旬婦眼皮閉不緊罹患乾眼症 醫師埋「黃金」入眼瞼助根治
67歲王太太，因眼睛乾澀、發癢，被眼科診斷出是「乾眼症」。主要原因是因為10多年前的外傷，導致右眼無法完全閉合。為解決根本病因，王到整形外科詳細檢查後，光田醫院主任醫師吳文宏說，患者因顏面神經第二分支受損，眼皮長久無法完全閉合，就必須借助外界力量幫助閉合眼皮。
吳文宏指出，患者眼睛閉合不全是由於眼輪匝肌無力收縮，導致乾眼症，眼睛亦無法保留足夠淚液，導致角膜潰瘍，險失明風險。如果眼皮自己沒有力量闔上，就必須借助外界力量幫助閉合眼皮，建議患者在眼瞼內，埋入黃金增加眼皮重量，使其在重力作用下自然下垂，從而幫助眼皮閉合。
吳文宏說，手術以「黃金」作為治療材料，主要是因為黃金具有穩定的化學特性，不會與其他元素組成化合物，因此不易生鏽、腐壞。也因為黃金的穩定性，常被用於裝設金牙，加入保養品或其他生醫材料中。手術後右眼能完全緊閉後，改善了原有的乾眼症，也能保護角膜，避免眼角膜乾燥而潰瘍。
吳文宏指出，治療選用黃金縫掛在提眼肌膜上，是由於黃金密度高、體積小（密度19.30 g／cm³），適合作為醫材。相較之下，鈦金屬雖也常作為醫材（密度4.507 g／cm³），但因鈦金屬體積稍大，植入眼皮長期易外露，無法達到良好的閉合成效。
