錦榮今與電影「真人快打II」中飾演國王的澳洲演員戴斯蒙詹（ Desmond Chiam） 一同出席冰淇淋活動。在美國與韓裔美籍女星Kirstin Leigh的5年情劃下句點後，今年回台灣發展，年初被媒體捕捉到與一名長髮高䠷美女約會，今他鬆口感情穩定交往中。

他形容現任女友是高智商才女，記憶力超好，「看完書我隨便考她一段內容，她都能精準背出來」。錦榮自嘲記性不好，常被女友考倒：「她會問我：『你不記得了嗎？』所以我現在都選擇相信她。」

錦榮坦言2人溝通很直白，他曾經送禮給女友驚喜，沒想到女友竟直接說出內心想法：「謝謝你有想到我，但我真的不喜歡這個。」他直說一開始對於這樣「不敢面子」的行為感到尷尬，但不需要猜測對方心態反而很輕鬆，「我們之間沒有誤會，不用去猜對方的感覺」。

他透露與女友感情穩定，沒有吵過架，而過往錦榮對於交往都以婚姻為目標，不過對於未來一切仍順其自然，「以前年輕覺得還有時間，但現在我的目標就是邁入家庭」。

去年錦榮傳出因在美國發展不順重返台灣演藝圈，但他今透露仍想要在美國發展，會努力將一切做到最好。錦榮表示，今年在台有許多計畫，包括在電影中客串演出。

另外，雖然站台冰淇淋活動，但錦榮自爆有「嚴重過敏」體質，對飲食嚴格把關，連飲料只喝水跟零卡可樂，甚至只要有工作便會拒絕外食，以水煮雞肉和蔬菜度日，「我吞下不對的東西，整個人就毀了。」

最後，提到近期全台瘋的世界棒球經典賽（WBC），紐西蘭籍的他坦言知道有賽事開打，但沒有特別關注，不過因為走到哪裡大家都在談論，因此有些印象：「我知道中華隊有和日本還有澳洲比賽。」
